A Twist to the "Social Animal "....... ?

.“There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers… from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have… evolved.” Charles Darwin, The Origin of Species, p.470.

"A *social animal* is a loosely defined term for an organism that is highly interactive with other members of its species to the point of having a recognizable and distinct society"

Gorillas and other higher primates are noted as having similarly complex social structures.

All mammals (and birds) are social to the context that mothers and offspring bond. The term "social animal"  is usually only applied when there is a level of social organization that goes beyond this, with permanent groups of adults living together, and relationships between individuals that endure from one encounter to another

Is this a 'Social Animal' ?

What is your opinion in the context of today?

  1. ....and will continue to evolve as species continue to adapt for survival as the environment changes. The success of Facebook, Twitter, etc I think proves that Homo Sapiens revel in their power to communicate instantly, and as individuals, which will continue to erode the power that mass media once held in shaping opinion.
