How good a leader are you?
Want to know how good a leader you are? Just ask people to rate you on a scale of 0 to 10, obviously 10 being the higher rating. The question to pose is; How would you recommend the person (me/your name) being assessed as a leader to your colleagues and friends? Just give them the question with the scale to mark on a sheet of paper. Don't ask them for any form of identification. Anonymity gives you candid feedback. You the 'leader' must be matured to take it!
Should people rate you 9 or 10, you are a great leader in their minds (A).
If they rate you 7 or 8, they consider you; one amongst the many they consider as leaders (B).
If the ratings are 6 or below, then they don't perceive you as a leader (C).
N is the total sample population.
The formula is (A-C)/Nx100.
Expressed as a %, if you are rated +75% or more, pat yourself on the back, you are a great leader. 50 to 74%, you are a good leader. Below 50%, you have some work to do.

Leadership is not beating somebody in the head from behind, thats assault! Neither is it dragging people on a rope, thats what you do to a stubborn cow! Nor would you call the riding on someones shoulders, leadership. It is only as long as you go in riding a donkey! Should you decide to carry others on your shoulders, well, thats not leadership, it is donkey business!

Social Media Mapped to Hierarchy of Needs
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Explained
According to Maslow’s theory on the Hierarchy of Needs there are five different needs that all people need to have met.
Physiological Needs
These are the most basic and primary needs of each human. Everyone needs to take care of their body and meet its needs for survival. This includes food, water and breathing, among other things.
Safety Needs
Once a person’s physical needs are met, Maslow believed safety was the next most important need. According to his theory, safety needs can include personal security, financial security, health and well being, as well as safety against accidents and illness.
Love and Belonging
After a person has met their physiological and safety needs, Maslow believe that the third most important need was that of love and belonging. He highlights in the theory that this includes friendship, intimacy and family.
Esteem
Maslow believed that all people have a need to be respected by others, as well as have a feeling of self-respect . Once the previous needs are met, Maslow postulates that people need to feel accepted and valued by others.
Self-Actualization
The final level in Maslow’s hierarchy is self-actualization. As explained in the theory, once the previous needs are met people naturally strive to continue to improve to reach their maximum potential.

Ethical Businesses... Fact or Fiction?
Ethical business are said to consider the following four levels of ethics in the pursuit of being a good corporate citizen.
1. Societal factors such as nondiscrimination, gender equality, nonracial policies etc that delivers social
equity.
2. Stakeholder considerations: work towards healthy profits and value creation for the shareholders,
sustainability of the suppliers, and the delivery of safe and good products to the customer.
3. Internal Policies of the organization must treat the employees fairly and equitably. Proper
compensation, working conditions, work life balance, the way layoffs are handled, meritocracy etc.
4. Personal; as in, the way people treat each other within the organization. Mutual respect, fair
treatment, helping one another, and the like.
Is this fact or fiction?

A short memo to parents ..................
- Build a friendly relationship with your children and facilitate communication
- Don't Say "Now do this" or "Don't do that" rather get them interested in things you would like them to do by your own example
- Complement and reward good behaviors
- Praise them when they have done the right thing.This may be a hug ,kiss or a loving pat on the shoulder.
- A reward may be in the form of a treat joining them in their favorite play,reading a story they enjoy .......etc ( Not necessarily a material benefit)
- Correct inappropriate behaviors with kindness and firmness and still respect their feelings
- Help them see how their actions affect others
- Provide them a few reasonable rules for behavior and practice them yourselves
- The best thing to spend your child is your time .

Social Media became handy during Super storm Sandy
The latest news reports states....
As Americans reeled from the aftermath of super-storm Sandy Wednesday, they took to tweeting, posting and crowd sourcing to mobilize much-needed aid and help those left without power or food.
DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - Sandy may prove to be the first big weather event where so many people turned to social media to get a message across. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram were the go-to sites even when the lights went out. Experts said that 62 percent of everyone online uses social media now.

NEW YORK — Facebook and Twitter became conduits of information for people seeking help or solace as super-storm Sandy ravaged the U.S. East Coast, reinforcing social media’s importance in connecting people during a crisis.
On Facebook’s Talk Meter, which measures conversations on specific subjects, Sandy was the second-most popular U.S. topic for 2012, with only the Super Bowl driving more activity, according to the owner of the world’s largest social network. Some of the most-shared terms early today on Facebook were “we are OK,” “power” and “damage,” the company said.
Facebook, which has more than 1 billion users worldwide, and Twitter, with more than 140 million, usually see increased traffic around storms and major news events, including Hurricane Irene in 2011, the presidential debates and the London Olympics.
The rise of social media is giving users more information and points of view than television news, where Americans have typically turned during such events, said Charlene Li, an analyst at Altimeter Group in San Mateo, California.
“It’s not only the immediacy, but also the depth and the breadth that social media is actually impacting,” Li said. “It is endless amounts of content. You just can’t get through it. It’s constantly refreshed.”

Utilities and government officials turned to Twitter, a microblogging service that lets users post 140-character messages, to give updates as the storm progressed. They included New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and power company Consolidated Edison Inc. Twitter itself published a blog post listing storm-related resources, accounts and hashtags to follow for real-time information, and suggestions for using the site during an emergency.
This time the rush has moved beyond traditional social media, Li said. Instagram, a photo-sharing service that Facebook acquired earlier this year, has become a popular way to post images from the storm in the New York area, she said. The service, which lets friends easily share photos taken from mobile phones, has more than 100 million users, the company said earlier this month.
“This is very much an Instagram news event,” Li said. “Up to this point, Instagram has been about taking a picture and putting some sort of special effects around it. That’s not what this is.”
Online Tools
Other social-media applications, such as Google Inc.’s YouTube video site, have seen a jump in storm-related posts as well. Google has provided online tools for watching and tracking the storm.
